Gavin Green was retrospectively suspended by the DP World Tour for three months due to a doping violation at the end of last year.
The DP World Tour announced that Malaysian golfer Gavin Green has been suspended for three months because of a doping violation detected during an end-of-season test in 2025.
Prohibited Herbal Supplement Found
According to the European Tour Group, a banned substance was found in Green’s system, which he had ingested as part of a medical treatment in a herbal supplement. The Tour stated that Green fully cooperated with the DP World Tour and did not intentionally take the banned substance. Nevertheless, the Tour’s anti-doping rules apply, resulting in the suspension.
Gavin Green Receives Retrospective Suspension
Green’s three-month retrospective suspension started on December 5, 2025, meaning he will be eligible to compete again starting with the Joburg Open of the DP World Tour on March 5, 2026. Additionally, he was retroactively disqualified from the 2025 Danish Golf Championship, the event during which the doping test was conducted.
The European Tour Group announced they will not comment further on the suspension, and Green has accepted the sanction.
First Malaysian to Win Asian Tour Order of Merit
After several successful years as an amateur in Asia, Green turned professional in 2015 and achieved notable results. His greatest career successes came in 2017 on the Asian Tour, where after an excellent season he won the Asian Tour Order of Merit, becoming the first Malaysian ever to do so. On the DP World Tour, he has so far recorded three runner-up and two third-place finishes in his career.
