Patrick Reed wins in Dubai, Andy Sullivan finishes second. DACH players like Schneider and von Dellingshausen place mid-field.
American Patrick Reed clinched the title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, held at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, the gem of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates. Although Reed couldn’t quite match his earlier performances on the final day, an even-par round was enough for the San Antonio, Texas pro to secure victory.
Mixed Final Day Performance Secures Victory
Reed was not flawless on the front nine, recording a bogey. On the back nine, he managed to make up for his earlier mistake at the 10th hole but missed two attempts on the 11th green, resulting in another bogey. He recovered once more at the 13th hole. Finishing at 14 under par, Reed won comfortably ahead of France’s Julien Guerrier, Spain’s David Puig, and England’s Andy Sullivan. This victory propelled Reed in the Race to Dubai from 107th to 2nd place.
DP World Tour: Sullivan Fights to Second Place
Andy Sullivan showed resilience on the final stretch to finish alone in second place. The Englishman started the front nine with four bogeys and a single birdie but improved significantly with four birdies on the back nine, finishing with a 71. He birdied the 18th hole to secure second place at 10 under par, still trailing Reed but under pressure from Puig and Guerrier, who finished tied at nine under par.
DACH Players Finish Mid-Field on Leaderboard
The four DACH players who made the cut on Friday placed mid to lower mid-field. Marcel Schneider finished with a 74 on the final day, dropping 14 spots to a tie for 33rd, a position he shares with DP World Tour favorite Rory McIlroy, who also ended with a 73 and dropped six places. Nicolai von Dellingshausen completed the event at two under par, tied at 33rd. Freddy Schott and Swiss Joel Girrbach tied for 49th at one over par, both finishing the final round with 74s consisting of multiple bogeys and birdies. Both slightly improved their Race to Dubai standings, though Schott currently ranks 103rd in the early season.
