Patrick Reed Wins Hero Dubai Desert Classic on DP World Tour

Patrick Reed wins in Dubai, Andy Sullivan finishes second. DACH players Schneider, von Dellingshausen, Girrbach, and Schott place mid-field.

American Patrick Reed secured the title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, played at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, the pearl of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates. Although Reed couldn’t match his earlier performances on the final day, an even-par round was enough for the pro from San Antonio, Texas, to claim victory.

Mixed Final Day is Enough for Victory

Reed was not flawless on the front nine and recorded a bogey. On the back nine, he made up for his mistake on the 10th hole but missed two attempts on the green at the 11th, resulting in another bogey. He evened out the score on the 13th hole. With a total of 14 strokes under par, Reed won comfortably ahead of the French Julien Guerrier, Spaniard David Puig, and Englishman Andy Sullivan. This win catapulted Reed from 107th to 2nd place in the Race to Dubai rankings.

DP World Tour: Sullivan Fights for Second Place

Andy Sullivan showed resilience late in the final round to secure sole second place. The Englishman started the front nine with four bogeys and just one birdie. However, he recovered on the back nine with four birdies, finishing with a 71. He closed with a birdie on the 18th to clinch second place. He finished at ten under par but was closely challenged by third-place finishers David Puig and Julien Guerrier.

David Puig completed the final round with a 73 and finished at nine under par, tied with Julien Guerrier, who improved seven places with a strong 69 on the final day.

DACH Players in the Middle of the Leaderboard

Four DACH players who made the cut on Friday finished in the middle to lower middle of the leaderboard. Marcel Schneider ended the day with a 74, dropping 14 places to a T33, tied with DP World Tour favorite Rory McIlroy, who shot a 73 and fell six spots. Nicolai von Dellingshausen finished the Hero Dubai Desert Classic at two under par, tied for 33rd place.

Freddy Schott and Swiss Joel Girrbach landed at T49, each finishing one stroke over par. Both shot a 74 on the final day, consisting of bogeys and birdies. Both players slightly improved their positions in the Race to Dubai standings, though Schott is currently ranked 103rd early in the season.
