Patrick Reed Claims Victory at Hero Dubai Desert Classic on DP World Tour

Patrick Reed wins in Dubai, Andy Sullivan secures second place. DACH players like Schneider and von Dellingshausen finish mid-field.

American Patrick Reed captured the title at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, held at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, the jewel of the Persian Gulf in the United Arab Emirates. Although Reed couldn’t quite match his earlier performances on the final day, an even-par round was enough for the professional from San Antonio, Texas, to claim victory.

Mixed Final Round Sufficient for Victory

On the front nine, Reed was not flawless, recording a bogey. On the back nine, he recovered at the 10th hole but faltered again at the 11th, missing two attempts to hole out and carding another bogey. He evened the score at the 13th hole and finished with 14 under par overall, comfortably ahead of Frenchman Julien Guerrier, Spaniard David Puig, and Englishman Andy Sullivan. This win propelled Reed from 107th to 2nd place in the Race to Dubai rankings.

DP World Tour: Sullivan Fights to Second Place

Andy Sullivan made a strong comeback in the final stretch of the last round, securing sole possession of second place. The Englishman started poorly with four bogeys and one birdie on the front nine but regained ground with four birdies on the back nine, shooting a 71. A birdie on the 18th hole ensured his second place finish at 10 under par, though he remained under pressure from David Puig and Julien Guerrier, who both finished at nine under par.

DACH Players Finish in Mid-Field

The four DACH players who made the cut Friday finished in the middle or lower mid-field of the leaderboard. Marcel Schneider ended the final day with a 74, dropping 14 places to T33, a position shared with DP World Tour favorite Rory McIlroy. McIlroy also shot a 73 on Sunday and lost six spots. Nicolai von Dellingshausen finished the Hero Dubai Desert Classic two strokes under par, tied for 33rd. Freddy Schott and Swiss Joel Girrbach finished tied at 49th, each one stroke over par, both shooting 74 in the final round. Both improved slightly in the Race to Dubai rankings, despite Schott currently sitting 103rd early in the season.
