DP World Tour: DACH Players Struggle Ahead of Weekend at Hero Dubai Desert Classic

German-speaking players struggled on day two of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, with several missing the cut.

After a promising start to the week, Friday did not go as hoped for golfers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen shot a 74, dropping from fifth place the day before to the middle of the field. Freddy Schott barely made the cut with a 74, while Marcel Schneider couldn’t stay under par compared to the previous day, posting a one-over-par round. Joel Girrbach had the worst day, scoring 77 and narrowly making the cut despite a strong round on Thursday. Marcel Siem, Bernd Wiesberger, and Maximilian Steinbach missed the cut. Even the stars struggled in Dubai, with Rory McIlroy shooting 70 and tying with Von Dellingshausen, while Tommy Fleetwood just made the cut. Patrick Reed leads after two days with a score of nine under par.

Triple Bogey Ends Von Dellingshausen’s Chances at the Top

On Thursday, Nicolai Von Dellingshausen played an excellent round under difficult wind conditions, putting himself in position for a possible top result this week. However, that chance faded early on Friday when he made a triple bogey on his third hole. His drive ended up in a bunker, and his next attempt to escape went out of bounds, forcing him to take a drop. Things did not improve as he only finished the par 4, 13th hole in seven shots. He managed to recover somewhat with three birdies on the back nine, bringing his score to even par after his first nine holes. However, his front nine deteriorated with three consecutive bogeys on holes 5 to 7. A birdie on the final 9th hole brought him to two over par overall, dropping him to 33rd place.

Joel Girrbach had an even worse day. Starting in a tie for third after a 68 the previous day, he began well with a birdie on the first hole, but that would be his last birdie of the day. Bogeys on holes 11 and 12 brought him to +1 after the back nine. The front nine then went downhill with four more bogeys and no birdies. Ultimately, he finished at five over par, falling to 60th place and just inside the cut line.

DP World Tour: Eagle on 18 a Small Consolation for Marcel Siem

Marcel Siem had a difficult week. After an even-par round on Thursday, nothing went right on Friday until the last hole, resulting in a 76 and 82nd place, missing the cut for the weekend. Four bogeys and no birdies on
