DP World Tour: German-Speaking Players Falter Before Weekend at Hero Dubai Desert Classic

German-speaking players struggled on day two of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour, with several missing the cut.

After a promising start to the week, Friday did not go as hoped for golfers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic of the DP World Tour. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen shot a 74, slipping from fifth place on the previous day to the middle of the pack. Freddy Schott narrowly made the cut with a 74. Marcel Schneider also failed to stay under par compared to the previous day, posting a round of 1-over par. Joel Girrbach had the worst day, shooting a 77 and just barely making the cut despite a strong round on Thursday. Marcel Siem, Bernd Wiesberger, and Maximilian Steinbach missed the cut. The stars struggled too in Dubai. Rory McIlroy shot a 70, aligning with Von Dellingshausen, and Tommy Fleetwood just barely made the cut. Patrick Reed leads after the first two days with a score of 9-under par.

Triple Bogey Ends Von Dellingshausen’s Chances for a Top Finish

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen played an excellent round on Thursday under difficult wind conditions, positioning himself for a potentially top result this week. However, that opportunity faded early on Friday when he suffered a triple bogey on his third hole of the day. His drive landed in a bunker, and his subsequent escape shot went out of bounds, requiring a drop. Things did not improve as he took seven strokes to finish the 13th hole, a Par 4. He recovered somewhat with three birdies on the back nine, bringing his score back to even par after nine holes. The front nine, however, saw him drop three consecutive bogeys on holes 5 to 7. A birdie on the final 9th hole left him two over par and dropped him to 33rd place.

Joel Girrbach had an even worse day. After shooting a 68 the previous day to start tied for third, he began well with a birdie on the first hole. That would be his last birdie for the round. Bogeys on holes 11 and 12 left him at +1 after the back nine. The front nine was disastrous, with four more bogeys and no birdies, resulting in a total score of 5 over par and dropping him to 60th place, barely making the cut.

DP World Tour: Eagle on 18 a Small Consolation for Marcel Siem

Marcel Siem had a challenging week. After an even-par round on Thursday, Friday was tough up until the final hole, where he managed to score an eagle on the par-5 18th. Despite a 76 that
