DP World Tour: DACH Players Struggle at Hero Dubai Desert Classic Day 2

German-speaking players had a tough second day at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour with several missing the cut.

After a promising start to the week, Friday did not go as hoped for golfers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen shot a 74, dropping from fifth place the previous day to the middle of the field. Freddy Schott barely made the cut with a 74. Marcel Schneider was unable to stay under par compared to the previous day, finishing one over par. Joel Girrbach had the worst day with a 77, narrowly making the cut despite his strong round on Thursday. Marcel Siem, Bernd Wiesberger, and Maximilian Steinbach missed the cut. Even the stars struggled in Dubai. Rory McIlroy, after shooting a 70, is tied with Von Dellingshausen, and Tommy Fleetwood just barely made the cut. Patrick Reed leads after the first two days with a score of 9 under par.

Triple Bogey Ends Von Dellingshausen’s Rise

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen played an excellent round on Thursday under difficult wind conditions, putting himself in position to achieve a top result this week. However, that chance disappeared early Friday when he incurred a triple bogey on his third hole of the day. His drive ended up in a bunker, and his attempt to recover went out of bounds, forcing a drop. Things did not improve as he finished the par-4 13th hole with seven strokes. He recovered somewhat with three birdies on the back nine to bring his score to even par through the first nine holes. Unfortunately, his front nine was less successful, with three consecutive bogeys on holes 5 through 7. A birdie on the final 9th hole left him with a score of two over par, dropping him to 33rd place.

Joel Girrbach had an even tougher day. After a 68 on Thursday that placed him tied for third, he started well with a birdie on his first hole. But that would be his only birdie of the day. Bogeys on holes 11 and 12 left the 32-year-old at one over par through the back nine. The front nine was worse, as he stumbled with four more bogeys and no birdies, ending with a total score of five over par and falling to 60th place, just inside the cut.

DP World Tour: Eagle on 18 for Marcel Siem a Silver Lining

Marcel Siem had a tough week. After shooting an even-par round on Thursday, nothing went right for him until the last hole on Friday. He finished with a 76, placing 82nd
