DP World Tour: DACH Players Struggle at Hero Dubai Desert Classic Round 2

German-speaking players struggled on day two of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, with several missing the cut.

After a promising start to the week, Friday did not go as hoped for the golfers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic on the DP World Tour. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen shot a 74, dropping from fifth place the day before to the midfield. Freddy Schott just made the cut with a 74. Marcel Schneider also failed to stay under par compared to the previous day, shooting one over par. Joel Girrbach had the worst day, shooting a 77 and barely making the cut despite a strong round on Thursday. Marcel Siem, Bernd Wiesberger, and Maximilian Steinbach missed the cut. Even the stars struggled in Dubai. Rory McIlroy sits tied with Von Dellingshausen after a 70, and Tommy Fleetwood just barely made the cut. Patrick Reed leads after two days with a score of 9 under par.

Triple Bogey Ends Von Dellingshausen’s Chance for a Top Finish

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen played an excellent round on Thursday in difficult wind conditions, positioning himself for a possible top result this week. However, this opportunity slipped away early Friday after a triple bogey on his third hole of the day. His drive landed in a bunker, and his attempt to escape went out of bounds, forcing a drop. Things did not improve as he took seven strokes to finish hole 13, a par 4. He recovered somewhat with three birdies on the remaining back nine, bringing his score to even par after the first nine holes. Yet, his front nine saw three bogeys in a row on holes 5 to 7. A birdie on the final hole 9 brought him to two over par, dropping him to 33rd place.

It went even worse for Joel Girrbach, who started Friday tied 3rd after a 68 on Thursday. He began well with a birdie on the first hole, but that remained his only one of the day. Bogeys on holes 11 and 12 brought him to one over par after the back nine. The front nine proved tougher with four more bogeys and no birdies, ending his round at 5 over par and placing him 60th, just inside the cut line.

Marcel Siem faced a tough week. After an even-par round on Thursday, Friday brought little success until the final hole, where he shot a 76 to finish 82nd and miss the weekend cut. Four bogeys and no birdies on the front nine set a poor tone early for the 45-year-old. The back nine included bogeys on the
