DP World Tour: Wiesberger climbs into top ten with strong 65

Wiesberger fires a bogey-free stretch to card a 65 and move into the top ten as Kobori takes the solo lead in Brisbane.

The DP World Tour season opener in Brisbane is heating up. After weather delays disrupted the start, Friday’s second round proceeded mostly as scheduled. While some players were unable to finish due to fading light, others made significant moves up the leaderboard. Chief among them was Bernd Wiesberger, who surged into the top ten with an impressive 65. Meanwhile, Kazuma Kobori closed with a flurry of birdies to take the outright lead.

Wiesberger surges with bogey-free stretch

Austria’s Bernd Wiesberger bounced back from a shaky start to post one of the best rounds of the day. After opening with a bogey on the 10th, the veteran remained flawless for the rest of his round. He collected three birdies on the back nine, followed by four more on the front, finishing with a 65. At seven-under-par overall, Wiesberger now sits tied for ninth.

Germany’s Yannik Paul and Freddy Schott also completed their second rounds. Paul shot a 68, highlighted by two early birdies and a closing birdie on the 18th, placing him at four-under and tied for 31st. Schott overcame an early bogey with four birdies, including one on the final hole, carding a 67 to match Paul’s total.

Maximilian Steinlechner of Austria struggled early with three bogeys on the back nine but recovered with two birdies after the turn. His 72 leaves him at one-over-par, hoping to make the cut.

Kobori finishes strong to lead

New Zealand’s Kazuma Kobori delivered the round of the day with a sizzling 63. He closed with four consecutive birdies, tallying nine in total against just one bogey. At ten-under-par, he holds the solo lead heading into the weekend.

Trailing by one shot are Brett Rankin, Anthony Quayle, and Wenyi Ding. Due to unfinished rounds on Friday, play will resume early Saturday morning before the third round begins.
