Nerve-racking finish in Bahrain: Freddy Schott wins playoff against Reed and Hill, celebrates first DP World Tour victory and rises to 9th in Race to Dubai.
At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour remained thrilling until the last minute. In a strong head-to-head battle between Scotland’s Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German Freddy Schott, it was ultimately Schott who prevailed in a tense playoff on the final day. This victory marks Schott’s first triumph on the DP World Tour. His success propels the Düsseldorf native to 9th place in the Race to Dubai standings, climbing 94 spots.
Trio Shares Lead After Final Round
All three players finished Sunday at 17 under par, sharing the top of the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved by one stroke from the previous day with a 69. He shone on the front nine with four birdies but had a bogey on hole 8. His back nine was mostly steady although he recorded a double bogey on hole 11. Three more birdies and one bogey resulted in a three-under-par round.
American Patrick Reed carded a 67, five under par, including seven birdies and two bogeys, coming close to his best score of 66 from Saturday.
Scottish Calum Hill shot a one-under 71, keeping him near the top thanks to his outstanding 61 on Friday. However, his competitors closed the gap on the final day with Hill making five birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey, falling short of a solo win at the Royal Golf Club.

In the second playoff hole, Hill struggled with a seven on the par-4 and conceded the win. Schott held steady with even par to secure the title.
Spanish golfer Sergio García, who led several times during the tournament, finished the day with a 68, sharing fourth place with New Zealander Daniel Hillier, both at 16 under par.
