Nerve-wracking Bahrain finale: Freddy Schott wins in a playoff against Reed and Hill, claiming his first DP World Tour victory and rising to 9th in the Race to Dubai.
At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last moment. In a thrilling head-to-head competition between Scotland’s Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and Germany’s Freddy Schott, it was Schott who prevailed in a tense final day playoff. This victory marks Schott’s first triumph on the DP World Tour. The Düsseldorfer soared to 9th place in the Race to Dubai standings, advancing 94 positions thanks to his win.
Trio Shares Lead After Final Round
All three players finished Sunday at 17 under par, tied at the top of the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved his score with a 69, delivering four birdies on the front nine but facing a bogey on the eighth hole. His back nine was steady, despite a double bogey on the 11th hole, finishing with three birdies and another bogey for a 3-under-par round.
Patrick Reed carded a 67, five under par, with seven birdies and two bogeys, narrowly missing his best round of 66 from the previous day.
Calum Hill had a solid 71, one under par, keeping him near the leaderboard’s top. Despite his strong 61 on Friday, Hill’s final day included five birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey, which wasn’t enough to secure an outright win on the Royal Golf Club course.
