DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Triumphs in Playoff for First Victory

A nail-biting finish in Bahrain as Freddy Schott wins the playoff against Reed and Hill, securing his first DP World Tour victory and rising to 9th in the Race to Dubai.

At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour kept fans on the edge of their seats until the very last moment. In a tight head-to-head competition among Scotsman Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German Freddy Schott, it was Schott who prevailed in a dramatic playoff on the final day. This victory marks Schott’s first triumph on the DP World Tour. With this win, the Düsseldorf native jumps up to 9th place in the Race to Dubai rankings, climbing an impressive 94 spots.

Trio Shares Lead After Final Round

All three players finished the final Sunday tied at 17 under par atop the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved by one stroke from the previous day with a 69. He shined with four birdies on the front nine but incurred a bogey on the 8th hole. His back nine was solid overall despite a double bogey on the 11th. Three more birdies and another bogey led to a round three under par.

American Patrick Reed carded a 67, five under par, with seven birdies and two bogeys, nearly matching his best round of the tournament, a 66 on Saturday.

Scottish player Calum Hill recorded a modest 71, one under par, but remained near the top of the leaderboard thanks to a remarkable 61 on Friday. Despite five birdies, two bogeys, and a double bogey, Hill could not secure a clear victory at the Royal Golf Club.

DP World Tour: Dramatic Playoff Decision Favors Freddy Schott

The playoff began with Schott making par on the hole. Reed faltered with a bogey, taking five shots, while Hill matched Schott’s par, sending the contest back to the 18th for a second playoff hole. Hill struggled with a seven on the par-4, conceding the win, while Schott maintained even par to clinch the title.

Spain’s Sergio García, who led the leaderboard multiple times during the event, finished the day with a 68 and shared fourth place with New Zealander Daniel Hillier, both ending at 16 under par.
