DP World Tour: Freddy Schott wins first title in dramatic playoff in Bahrain

Nerve-wracking Bahrain finish: Freddy Schott wins in a playoff against Reed and Hill, claiming his first DP World Tour victory and rising to 9th in the Race to Dubai.

At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour delivered tense moments until the very end. In a fierce battle on the final day, Scottish Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German Freddy Schott were tied, but Schott prevailed in a thrilling playoff. The win marks Schott’s first triumph on the DP World Tour and propels the Düsseldorf native to 9th place in the Race to Dubai standings, climbing 94 spots.

Trio shares lead after final round

All three players finished Sunday tied at 17 under par. Freddy Schott improved on his previous day with a 69, featuring four birdies on the front nine despite a bogey on hole 8, followed by a double bogey on hole 11 but finishing with three more birdies and a bogey for a 3-under opening day.

Patrick Reed shot a 67 with seven birdies and two bogeys, approaching his best round of the tournament.

Calum Hill carded a one-under 71, maintaining a strong leaderboard position thanks to a stellar 61 on Friday, though his final round included five birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.

DP World Tour: Dramatic playoff decides the champion

The playoff began with Schott making par, Reed bogeying with a five, and Hill matching Schott’s par. The 18th hole was revisited, where Hill faltered with a seven on the par-4, conceding the chance to win. Schott secured victory with an even-par on the second playoff hole.

Spanish veteran Sergio García finished the day with a 68 and shared fourth place with New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier, both at 16 under par.
