DP World Tour: Freddy Schott wins first title in thrilling Bahrain playoff

A dramatic finish in Bahrain as Freddy Schott claims his first DP World Tour victory in a playoff against Reed and Hill, climbing to 9th in Race to Dubai.

At the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour remained exciting until the very last moment. In a tight head-to-head battle between Scotsman Calum Hill, American Patrick Reed, and German Freddy Schott, Schott ultimately triumphed in a nerve-wracking playoff on the final day. This victory marks Freddy Schott’s first win on the DP World Tour. The Düsseldorfer catapulted to 9th place in the Race to Dubai rankings, improving by 94 positions.

Trio Shares Lead After Final Round

All three players finished Sunday at 17 under par, sharing the top of the leaderboard. Freddy Schott improved his score from the previous day with a 69, featuring four birdies on the front nine but a bogey on hole 8. His back nine was steady, despite a double bogey on hole 11, finishing the day three under par. Patrick Reed shot a 67 with seven birdies and two bogeys, coming close to his best score from the previous day. Calum Hill carded a 71, one under par, but was unable to secure the win despite his strong earlier rounds.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Triumphs in Dramatic Playoff

In the playoff, Schott parred the first hole while Reed bogeyed with five strokes. Hill also made par, leading to a second playoff hole at the 18th. On the second hole, Hill struggled with seven strokes on the par-4, conceding the win as Schott parred again to seal the victory. Spanish golfer Sergio García and New Zealander Daniel Hillier shared fourth place with rounds of 68 and finishes at 16 under par.

Other Notable Performances

Swiss player Joel Girrbach could not maintain his previous form, finishing with an even-par 72 and ranking T31 at nine under par. German Nicolai von Dellingshausen also faded on the final day with a 74, finishing T41 at seven under par.
