Schott Fights for Top Spot on Moving Day of DP World Tour in Bahrain

Freddy Schott battled for the lead on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain. With flawless play on the front nine and four birdies, he overtook early leader Calum Hill, who had lost his two-stroke advantage after three bogeys and only one birdie in the first six holes. Schott caught Hill with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with precise approach shots and solid putts on holes 8 and 9.

However, bogeys on holes 12 and 13 brought Schott back level with Hill, who responded with a birdie on hole 14 to reach a temporary total score of -15. Hill reclaimed the lead with another birdie on 15, while Schott struggled to challenge and recorded an unfortunate bogey on 18. Hill heads into the final day two strokes clear at -16, with Schott at -14.

After the round, Schott said, \”I’m a bit disappointed about the three-putt on the last hole, but it was a good day. We’re just continuing what we’ve been doing. I thought it might take me a couple of days to catch him. He had some trouble on the early holes and suddenly we were tied. I am still following the plan to catch him tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. It would be great if it works out, but it’s still too early to think about it.\”

International Contenders Increase the Pressure

Close behind Hill and Schott are international chasers, including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and a comeback to the PGA Tour in the summer before the tournament, started the third round strongly.
