DP World Tour: Schott Battles Hill for the Lead in Bahrain

Freddy Schott battles for the lead ahead of the final day of the DP World Tour in Bahrain. Von Dellingshausen and Girrbach secure top 20 positions.

Schott Fights for the Lead on Moving Day of the DP World Tour in Bahrain

Freddy Schott fought for the lead on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain ahead of the final day. With flawless front nine and four birdies, he took early control from leader Calum Hill. Hill lost his two-stroke advantage quickly due to three bogeys and only one birdie in the first six holes. Schott leveled with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with precise approach shots and secure putts on holes 8 and 9.

However, bogeys on holes 12 and 13 saw Schott fall back into a tie with Hill. Both carded birdies on 14 bringing their scores to -15. Calum Hill reclaimed the lead with a birdie on 15, while Schott couldn’t mount a decisive challenge and dropped another bogey on 18. Hill leads by two strokes (-16) over Schott (-14) heading into the final round.

After the round, Schott said: ‘I’m a bit disappointed with the three-putt on the last hole but it was a good day. We will continue doing what we’ve been doing. I thought it might take two days to catch him (Hill). He had some trouble on the first holes, and suddenly we were tied. I still plan to catch him tomorrow and look forward to it. It would be great if that works out, but it’s too early to think about that.’

International Contenders Increase the Pressure

Just behind Hill and Schott are strong international contenders, including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who recently announced his departure from LIV Golf and a comeback on the PGA Tour this summer, started the third round strongly.

Reed opened with a birdie and followed up with three more birdies in the first six holes. He stayed aggressive on the back nine
