DP World Tour: Schott Battles Hill for the Lead in Bahrain

Freddy Schott fights for the lead ahead of the DP World Tour final day in Bahrain. Von Dellingshausen and Girrbach are placed in the top 20.

Schott Battles for the Lead on the Moving Day of the DP World Tour in Bahrain

Freddy Schott fought for the lead on the third day of the DP World Tour in Bahrain ahead of the final round. With error-free front nine and four birdies, he took the lead early from Calum Hill. Hill had lost his two-shot lead quickly with three bogeys and only one birdie on the first six holes. Schott initially leveled with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with further successes on holes 8 and 9 through precise shots onto the green and confident putts.

However, on holes 12 and 13, he had to concede bogeys. Tied again with Hill, both players birdied the 14th hole reaching a temporary total score of -15. Calum Hill then regained the lead with a birdie on 15, while Schott could not mount a decisive challenge thereafter and also carded an unfortunate bogey on 18. Hill goes into the final day two shots ahead at -16, with Schott at -14.

International Chasers Turn Up the Pressure

Close behind Hill and Schott are international contenders including last week’s winner, Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and his comeback to the PGA Tour this summer before the tournament, started the third round strongly.

Reed opened with a birdie and followed up with three more birdies in the first six holes. He remained aggressive on the back nine, starting with a birdie and recording an eagle at the 13th hole. Thanks to precise iron shots and confident putting, he was at -7 through 13 holes. A bogey on 16 slightly slowed him, but he finished with a round of -6 and is now at -12 overall.
