DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Battles Calum Hill for Lead in Bahrain

Freddy Schott is fighting for the lead before the final day of the DP World Tour in Bahrain. Von Dellingshausen and Girrbach are positioned in the top 20.

Schott Fights for the Lead on the DP World Tour Moving Day in Bahrain

Freddy Schott battled on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain for the lead before the final day. With flawless first nine holes and four birdies, he early took the lead from front-runner Calum Hill. Hill had lost his two-stroke advantage quickly with three bogeys and only one birdie in the first six holes. Schott first leveled with birdies on holes 3 and 5 and extended his lead with further successes on the 8th and 9th holes through precise shots onto the green and secure putts.

However, on holes 12 and 13 he had to accept bogeys. Level again with Hill, both played a birdie on the 14th reaching a temporary total of -15. Calum Hill regained the lead with another birdie on 15, while Schott was unable to decisively attack and recorded another unlucky bogey on 18. Thus Hill goes into the final day with a two-stroke lead (-16) over Schott (-14).

After the round, the German said: \”I’m a bit disappointed that the last hole turned into a three-putt but it was a good day. We just keep doing what we have done so far. I thought it might be a matter of two days to catch him (Hill). He had some trouble on the first holes and suddenly we were level. I still follow the plan to catch him tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. It would be great if that works out but it’s still a bit early to think about that.\”

International Contenders Increase Pressure

Close behind Hill and Schott are international contenders including last week’s winner Patrick Reed. The American, who announced his departure from LIV Golf and his return to the PGA Tour this summer before the tournament, started the third round strongly.
