Schott fights for top spot on DP World Tour moving day in Bahrain

Freddy Schott fought for the lead on day three of the DP World Tour in Bahrain ahead of the final round. With a flawless front nine and four birdies, he took the lead early from leader Calum Hill. Hill struggled with three bogeys and just one birdie in the first six holes, losing his two-shot advantage quickly. Schott leveled the score with birdies on holes 3 and 5, then extended his lead with precise approaches and safe putts on holes 8 and 9.

However, he suffered bogeys on holes 12 and 13. Tied again with Hill, both players birdied the 14th to reach a temporary total of -15. Hill reclaimed the lead with a birdie on 15, while Schott could not mount a decisive challenge and posted an unfortunate bogey on 18. Hill leads by two strokes (-16) over Schott (-14) going into the final day.

After his round, the German said, ‘I’m a bit disappointed with the three-putt on the last hole but it was a good day. We just keep doing what we’ve been doing. I thought it might take a couple of days to catch him (Hill). He had some trouble early on, and suddenly we were tied. I still plan to catch him tomorrow and I’m looking forward to it. It would be great if it happens, but it’s a bit early to think about that.’
