DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Secures 2nd Place Heading into Weekend

Freddy Schott confirmed his previous day’s form with a 67, moving into 2nd place at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour. Only a shared course record stands in his way.

Freddy Schott posted a 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, placing him strongly for the weekend. He stands at 12 under par, four shots ahead of a chasing group. Ahead of him is Scotsman Calum Hill, who set the course record with a 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen ended the day one under par, holding onto a promising 14th place, just one shot behind the main chasing group. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week

Following an excellent round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain his performance on Friday and position himself well for the weekend. He started strong by making a birdie on the first hole. On the third hole, despite his drive drifting right and his second shot landing in the rough, he managed to recover and secure a second birdie on the green. He added a third birdie on the ninth hole for a front nine score of three under par. On the back nine, he birdied the 13th before scoring an eagle on the 14th hole after two flawless shots and sinking a putt from nearly seven meters. Though he faced some challenges on the 15th and 18th holes with bogeys, a birdie on the 17th helped him finish the day at five under par and second place going into the weekend.

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen was not able to replicate his previous day’s performance completely, finishing with one under par and dropping to 14th place. Starting on the back nine, he played error-free for a long stretch, made birdies on his first hole, 13th, and 1st holes, remaining near the top. However, two errant shots on the third hole and a missed short putt on the seventh led to two bogeys late in his round. Still, Von Dellingshausen holds a total score of seven under par, remaining within reach for the weekend and just one shot behind the group tied for fourth place.

Calum Hill Takes Lead with Course Record

Calum Hill fired a flawless round on Friday, making eleven birdies without dropping a single stroke. His 61, eleven under par, equals the course record at Royal GC in Bahrain. Hill
