Freddy Schott posted a 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, putting himself in a strong position for the weekend. At 12 under par, he leads a group four strokes ahead of the chasing pack. However, Scottish player Calum Hill set a course record with a 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen finished at one under par and is also on an encouraging 14th place, just one shot behind the leading group. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.
DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week
After an excellent round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain his performance and position himself well for the weekend on Friday. He started strong, making a birdie on hole 1 after a precise approach. On hole 3, despite a drive slightly off to the right and his second shot landing in the rough, Schott managed to recover excellently and make another birdie. He added a third birdie on hole 9 for a 3-under front nine. On the back nine, he made a birdie on 13 before scoring an eagle on hole 14 from nearly 7 meters after two perfect shots. Though not flawless, as he made bogeys on holes 15 and 18, a final birdie on 17 kept his round at 5 under par and placed him second going into the weekend.
Nicolai Von Dellingshausen couldn’t replicate his previous day’s form as he finished one under par, dropping to 14th place. Starting on the back nine, he played error-free for long stretches, birdying his first hole and adding two more on holes 13 and 1. However, two poor shots on hole 3 and a missed short putt on hole 7 resulted in two bogeys to close the round. Still, Von Dellingshausen remains at 7 under par overall and within striking distance for the weekend, just one shot behind the group sharing fourth place.
Calum Hill Sets Course Record to Lead
Calum Hill played a flawless round Friday, making eleven birdies without a single dropped shot. His 61 (11 under par) tied the course record at Royal Golf Club Bahrain and puts him four strokes clear at the top going into the weekend. The 31-year-old is aiming for his first win since the Joburg Open in March 202
