DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Secures 2nd Place for Weekend at Bahrain Championship

Freddy Schott confirmed his strong form with a 67, securing 2nd place heading into the weekend at the DP World Tour’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship.

Freddy Schott posted a 67 on the second day of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour, placing him strongly for the weekend. Sitting 12 under par, he holds a four-stroke lead over a chasing pack. However, ahead of him is Scotsman Calum Hill, who set a course record with a 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen finished the day one under par at 14th place, just one stroke behind the large chase group. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week

Following his excellent round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain momentum and secure a good weekend position. Starting strong, he made a birdie on hole 1 and overcame a drive and approach difficulty on hole 3 to add another birdie. Additional birdies on hole 9 and 13 saw him three under on the front nine; an eagle on hole 14 from nearly seven meters marked his second eagle of the week. Despite bogeys on holes 15 and 18, Schott finished at five under par for a total strongly positioning him second heading into the weekend.

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen could not replicate his previous day’s performance fully, ending with one under par and dropping to 14th place. Starting the back nine strong with birdies on holes 10, 13, and 1, he stayed near the top before two bogeys on hole 3 and 7 diminished his final standing. Nonetheless, at seven under par total, he remains within striking distance just one shot behind the group sharing fourth place.

Calum Hill Sets Course Record to Lead

Calum Hill delivered a flawless round on Friday, carding eleven birdies with no drops. His 61, or 11 under par, equals the course record at Royal GC Bahrain and gives him a four-stroke lead going into the weekend. For the 31-year-old, this would be his first win since the Joburg Open in March 2025.
