DP World Tour: Freddy Schott Enters Weekend in 2nd at Bahrain Championship

Freddy Schott confirmed his strong form with a 67, moving into 2nd place at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship on the DP World Tour.

Freddy Schott solidified his position with a second-round 67 at the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, part of the DP World Tour. With a score of 12 under par, he holds a four-shot lead over a chasing group. However, he trails Scotland’s Calum Hill, who set a new course record with an 11-under 61. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen ended the day at 1 under par, sitting in 14th place, just one stroke behind the main chasing pack. Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider missed the cut.

DP World Tour: Freddy Schott’s Second Eagle of the Week

Following an excellent round on Thursday, Freddy Schott aimed to maintain his momentum on Friday to secure a strong position for the weekend. He started in impressive fashion, making birdies on holes 1 and 3 despite a wayward drive and rough on the latter. He added a third birdie on hole 9 to complete a -3 on the front nine. On the back nine, after a birdie on 13, Schott produced two perfect shots on the 14th hole to eagle from nearly 7 meters. Although he dropped bogeys on holes 15 and 18, he finished with a 5-under-par 67, moving into second place for the weekend.

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen couldn’t replicate his previous day’s form, finishing one under par and dropping to 14th place. Starting on the back nine, he made birdies on holes 10, 13, and 1 to stay near the top, but two errant shots on hole 3 and a missed short putt on hole 7 led to two bogeys at the end. Nonetheless, Von Dellingshausen is still at 7 under par overall and within striking distance of the leaders.

Calum Hill Sets Course Record to Lead

Calum Hill delivered a flawless round on Friday, carding eleven birdies without a single dropped shot. His 61, equaling the course record at Royal GC in Bahrain, puts him four strokes clear heading into the weekend. The 31-year-old is aiming for his first victory since the Joburg Open in March 2025.
