Heavy rain forced the suspension of Round 3 at the Alfred Dunhill Championship on the DP World Tour.
Saturday’s action at the Alfred Dunhill Championship in Johannesburg was cut short due to persistent rain and thunderstorms. Organizers had moved tee times to early morning in anticipation of bad weather, but after just 40 players had teed off—and none completing more than six holes—play was halted. Standing water on the fairways and greens at Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Club made the course unplayable. Tournament Director David Williams confirmed the decision: ‘After two suspensions, we simply couldn’t continue.’
DP World Tour reduces event to 54 holes
The tournament will now be shortened to 54 holes, with the final round set for Sunday. Play is scheduled to resume at 6:30 a.m. local time, with the final groups teeing off around 7:20 a.m. Eugenio Chacarra leads at -15, closely followed by Jayden Schaper at -13. Several players, including Germany’s Marcel Schneider, Marcel Siem, and Joel Girrbach, had not yet started their rounds when play was suspended. Girrbach remains in the top 10, while Schneider and Siem will begin Sunday at -8 (T17) and -4 (T51), respectively.
Final push on Sunday
