DP World Tour: Siem and Schneider Climb at Mauritius Open

Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider move into the top 20 after strong rounds at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

The second round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the Sunshine Tour, saw solid performances from several German players at La Réserve Golf Links in Bel Ombre, Mauritius. Despite intermittent rain and coastal winds, Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both climbed the leaderboard.

Siem and Schneider break into the top 20

Marcel Schneider opened his round with four birdies on the front nine, offsetting a single bogey on the 9th. He added two more birdies on the back nine before closing with another bogey, carding a 68 to finish four-under-par and tied for 20th.

Fellow German Marcel Siem matched that position with an impressive 67, featuring eight birdies and two bogeys. After an over-par first round, the veteran used his local knowledge to bounce back and move up the leaderboard.

Nick Bachem also remained steady, balancing two bogeys with four birdies for a 70. At two-under-par, he sits tied for 37th and is well-positioned heading into the weekend.

Mixed results for German contingent

Dominic Foos had a rough day, starting strong with a birdie but stumbling with a double bogey on the 8th. Despite three more birdies on the back nine, two bogeys and another double bogey led to a 75, leaving him tied for 116th and missing the cut.

Allen John withdraws mid-round

Allen John began on the 10th hole but struggled with three bogeys and a double bogey before withdrawing midway through his round. He exited the tournament at 14-over-par after playing three nine-hole rounds.
