Schneider and Siem Climb Leaderboard at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, entering the final day in contention.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played excellent rounds to position themselves well for Sunday’s final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move up to T9, while Siem’s four-under 68 placed him at T14. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider produced a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and followed up with two more on 5 and 6. A fourth birdie came at the 8th, before his only blemish of the day—a bogey on the 9th, the same hole that troubled him in previous rounds. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine at holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he caught fire with four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to sign for a 68. At T14, Siem remains in the hunt for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard posted the round of the day with a nine-under 63. After an early bogey on hole 2, he bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. His back nine was electric, featuring five straight birdies from holes 12 through 16. He capped off the round with a final birdie on 18, bringing his total to ten birdies and tying for the lead.
