Strong Moving Day for Schneider and Siem at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open and head into the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Saturday to climb the leaderboard ahead of the final round. Schneider shot a six-under-par 66 to move into a tie for ninth place, while Siem carded a four-under 68 to sit tied for 14th. The tournament is currently led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63 on Saturday.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He started his birdie run on the 4th hole, quickly adding two more on the 5th and 6th. Another birdie on the 8th was slightly offset by a bogey on the 9th—his only blemish of the day and the third bogey on that hole this week. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the 12th, 13th, and 14th to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole. After a bogey on the 10th, he caught fire with four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite a second bogey on the 16th, he closed with a birdie on the 18th to finish with a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a top finish.

Ryan Gerard’s birdie blitz leads the field

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under 63. After an early bogey on the 2nd, he rebounded with birdies on the 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th to go three-under on the front nine. The back nine was even more impressive, as Gerard rolled in five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off his round with a tenth birdie on the 18th, vaulting into a share of the lead at 16-under-par.
