Schneider and Siem Climb Leaderboard at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, entering the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Saturday to move into contention ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to climb to T9, while Siem posted a four-under 68 to sit at T14. At the top of the leaderboard, South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a near-flawless round to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on the 4th, he followed up with back-to-back birdies on holes 5 and 6. Another birdie on the 8th was slightly offset by a bogey on the 9th — the only blemish on his card and the third consecutive day he bogeyed that hole. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine (holes 12, 13, and 14) to finish with a 66.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on hole 3. The back nine, however, brought a flurry of action. After a bogey on the 10th, Siem caught fire with four straight birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to finish at four-under for the day and T14 overall, keeping his hopes for a strong finish alive.

Ryan Gerard’s birdie blitz leads the way

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under 63. Despite an early bogey on the 2nd, he bounced back with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. The back nine saw a remarkable stretch of five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16, capped off with another birdie on the 18th — his tenth of the day — to tie for the lead at 16-under-par.
