Schneider and Siem Shine on Moving Day at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday to move into top positions at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played excellent rounds to position themselves well for the final day. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to climb to T9, while Siem followed with a four-under 68 to sit at T14. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard lead the field at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider produced a near-flawless round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and quickly added two more on the 5th and 6th. A fourth birdie came on the 8th, but the 9th hole once again proved tricky, as he made his only bogey of the day—his third in as many rounds on that hole. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the 12th, 13th, and 14th to finish with a 66 and move to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd marking the only highlight of his front nine. A bogey on the 10th set him back, but he responded with a flurry of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on the 16th, he closed with a birdie on the 18th to sign for a 68. At T14, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges to the top with birdie blitz

Ryan Gerard posted the round of the day with a nine-under-par 63. Despite an early bogey on the 2nd, he bounced back with birdies on the 3rd, 5th, 6th, and 8th to go three-under at the turn. The back nine saw him catch fire, recording five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off the round with a 10th birdie on the 18th, vaulting him into a share of the lead.
