Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong performances on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour.
Both German players surged up the leaderboard on Saturday, positioning themselves well for the final round of the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Marcel Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move into a tie for ninth, while Marcel Siem shot a four-under 68 to sit tied for 14th. At the top, South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.
DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem rallies late
Marcel Schneider played a composed and nearly error-free round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and followed it up with two more on the 5th and 6th. A fourth birdie came on the 8th, but the 9th hole proved tricky once again, as he made his only bogey of the day—his third bogey on that hole this week. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine at holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66.
Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole marking the highlight of his front nine. A bogey on the 10th initially set him back, but he caught fire with four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite a second bogey on the 16th, he closed with a birdie on 18 to finish with a 68. Tied for 14th, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.
Ryan Gerard surges with birdie streak
Ryan Gerard produced the round of the day with a nine-under 63. After an early bogey on the 2nd, he rebounded with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. The back nine featured a stunning birdie streak—five in a row from holes 12 to 16—propelling him into a share of the lead. He capped off the round with a final birdie on the 18th, bringing his total to ten birdies for the day.
