Schneider and Siem Shine on Moving Day at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday to move into contention at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem posted impressive scores to climb the leaderboard ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move into a tie for 9th place, while Siem followed with a four-under 68 to sit tied for 14th. At the top of the leaderboard, South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He started his birdie run on the 4th hole and followed up with two more on 5 and 6. After another birdie on the 8th, his only blemish came on the 9th hole, where he made bogey — the same hole that had troubled him on the previous two days. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine (holes 12, 13, and 14) to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd hole as his only highlight on the front nine. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he bounced back with four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to sign for a 68. At T14, Siem remains in striking distance for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard posted the round of the day with a nine-under 63. After an early bogey on the 2nd hole, he caught fire with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go out in 33. The back nine was even more impressive as he rattled off five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped off his round with a final birdie on the 18th to tie for the lead at 16-under-par.
