DP World Tour: Schneider and Siem in Contention After Strong Moving Day

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open and head into the final round in strong positions.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, German golfers Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered excellent performances on Saturday to climb the leaderboard ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move into a tie for 9th place, while Siem followed with a four-under 68, placing him T14. The tournament is currently led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16-under-par. Gerard dazzled with a spectacular 63, the best round of the day.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on the 4th hole and quickly added two more on holes 5 and 6. After a fourth birdie on the 8th, his only blemish came at the 9th hole, where he made bogey for the third consecutive day. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on the back nine—holes 12, 13, and 14—to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with an early birdie on hole 3 as the lone highlight of his front nine. A bogey on hole 10 initially set him back, but he rebounded with a birdie blitz—four in a row from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he capped off his round with a final birdie on 18, finishing with a 68 and sitting at T14 with a chance for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard surges to the top with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under 63. After an early bogey on hole 2, he caught fire with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under on the front nine. The back nine saw a stunning birdie streak—five in a row from holes 12 to 16—before he capped it off with a tenth birdie on the 18th. His hot putter propelled him into a share of the lead heading into Sunday’s final round.
