Schneider and Siem Shine on Moving Day at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, heading into the final day in contention.

At the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem made significant moves up the leaderboard on Saturday. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to climb into a tie for 9th place, while Siem’s four-under 68 put him in T14 heading into Sunday’s final round. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63 to vault into contention.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round, starting with a birdie on the 4th and adding two more on the 5th and 6th. After another birdie on the 8th, his only blemish came on the 9th, where he made bogey for the third consecutive day. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added birdies on 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and move into the top 10.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on the 3rd. A bogey on the 10th set him back, but he caught fire from the 12th to 15th, making four straight birdies. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to sign for a 68, putting him in a solid position for a strong finish.

Ryan Gerard’s birdie blitz leads the way

Ryan Gerard produced the round of the day with a nine-under 63. After an early bogey on the 2nd, he bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go out in 33. His back nine was even more impressive, with five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16, capped off by a final birdie on the 18th. The American now shares the lead with Casey Jarvis heading into the final round.
