Strong Moving Day for Schneider and Siem at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem impressed on Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, heading into the final round in strong positions.

At the DP World Tour’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered standout performances on Saturday to climb the leaderboard ahead of the final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move into a tie for 9th, while Siem followed with a four-under 68, placing him tied for 14th. Leading the field are South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing an exceptional 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a near-perfect round to break into the top 10. After his first birdie on hole 4, he added two more on 5 and 6, followed by another on 8. His only blemish came on the 9th hole—his third bogey there in as many days. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added birdies on 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and a share of 9th place.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with just one birdie on the front nine. A bogey on 10 set him back, but he rebounded with four straight birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to finish at 68 and tied for 14th, keeping him in contention for a top result.

Ryan Gerard’s birdie blitz leads the field

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a sizzling nine-under 63. After an early bogey on hole 2, he bounced back with birdies on 3, 5, 6, and 8. The back nine saw a spectacular run of five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16, capped off with a final birdie on 18. His performance propelled him into a share of the lead alongside Casey Jarvis.
