Strong Moving Day for Schneider and Siem at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, entering the final day in contention.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played impressive rounds to position themselves well for the final round. Schneider carded a six-under 66 to move into a tie for 9th place, while Siem followed with a four-under 68 to sit tied for 14th. At the top of the leaderboard, South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard share the lead at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing a sensational 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late

Marcel Schneider played a nearly flawless round on Saturday to break into the top 10. After opening with a birdie on hole 4, he added two more on holes 5 and 6, followed by another on the 8th. His only blemish came on the 9th, where he made bogey—his third straight day bogeying that hole. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66 and climb to T9.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with a lone birdie on hole 3 marking the highlight of his front nine. A bogey on the 10th set him back, but he rebounded with a flurry of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. After a second bogey on 16, he closed strong with a birdie on 18, signing for a 68 and moving to T14 with a shot at a top finish.

Ryan Gerard surges with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard posted the round of the day with a nine-under 63. Despite an early bogey on hole 2, he birdied holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three-under at the turn. His back nine was electric, with five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16, and a final birdie on 18 to cap off a 10-birdie performance. The American now shares the lead heading into Sunday’s final round.
