On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played excellent rounds to position themselves well for the final day. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to climb into a tie for 9th, while Siem’s four-under 68 placed him T14 heading into Sunday. South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and the USA’s Ryan Gerard lead the field at 16-under-par, with Gerard firing an exceptional 63.
DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem surges late
Marcel Schneider produced a nearly flawless round to break into the top 10. He opened his birdie account on hole 4 and followed it up with two more on holes 5 and 6. After a fourth birdie on hole 8, his only blemish came on the 9th, where he made bogey for the third consecutive day. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to close with a 66 and move into T9.
Marcel Siem had a slower start, with only one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on hole 10 set him back, but he responded with a brilliant stretch of four consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on 16, he finished strong with a birdie on 18 to post a 68, placing him T14 with a chance for a top finish.
Ryan Gerard’s birdie blitz leads the way
Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a spectacular nine-under-par 63. After an early bogey on hole 2, Gerard caught fire with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to reach three-under at the turn. He then went on a tear with five straight birdies from holes 12 to 16, and capped it off with a tenth birdie on hole 18 to grab a share of the lead at 16-under-par.
