Schneider and Siem Shine on Moving Day at AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open

Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem delivered strong rounds on Saturday to climb the leaderboard at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

On Moving Day at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour, both Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem played excellent rounds to position themselves well heading into the final day. Schneider carded a six-under-par 66 to move up to T9, while Siem finished with a four-under 68 to sit at T14. The tournament is currently led by South Africa’s Casey Jarvis and American Ryan Gerard, both at 16 under par. Gerard impressed with a standout round of 63.

DP World Tour: Schneider nearly flawless, Siem charges late

Marcel Schneider played a near-flawless round to break into the top 10. He made his first birdie on hole 4, then followed up with birdies on holes 5 and 6. Another birdie on hole 8 was slightly offset by a bogey on the 9th—his only blemish of the day and the third consecutive day he bogeyed that hole. Unfazed, the 35-year-old added three more birdies on holes 12, 13, and 14 to finish with a 66.

Marcel Siem had a slower start, with just one birdie on the front nine at hole 3. A bogey on hole 10 set him back, but he bounced back with four straight birdies from holes 12 to 15. Despite another bogey on hole 16, he closed with a birdie on 18 to finish at 68. Sitting at T14, Siem remains in contention for a strong finish.

Gerard surges with birdie streak

Ryan Gerard delivered the round of the day with a nine-under 63. Despite an early bogey on hole 2, he rebounded with birdies on holes 3, 5, 6, and 8 to go three under on the front nine. The back nine was even more impressive, as Gerard rattled off five consecutive birdies from holes 12 to 16. He capped his round with a tenth birdie on hole 18, propelling him into a share of the lead.
