Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper continued his winning streak on the DP World Tour by capturing the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title at La Réserve Golf Links. Just a week after his victory at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again triumphed in a playoff, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard in spectacular fashion with a chip-in eagle on the second extra hole.
Schaper opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the 5th hole, followed by four more birdies on the back nine to card an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), highlighted by six birdies. Both players finished at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff to decide the champion.
On the second playoff hole, Schaper sealed the win with a stunning chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour title and a memorable end to his 2025 season.
Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper said: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course — from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year and so will the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished solo third after a final-round 71, which included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been in contention throughout the week but couldn’t keep pace on the final day.
Mixed results for German players
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who had been steady early on, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par. Siem also had a tough round, carding a 76 with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, joining Schneider at T37.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot an even-par round on Sunday to finish T48 at one-under-par overall.
