Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper captures his second consecutive DP World Tour title with a dramatic chip-in eagle to win in Mauritius.

Jayden Schaper continued his sensational run on the DP World Tour by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in spectacular fashion. The South African triumphed in a playoff for the second straight week, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard with a stunning chip-in eagle on the second extra hole at La Réserve Golf Links.

Schaper, 24, began his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, then added four more birdies on the back nine to card a brilliant 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front and two more on the back, to force the playoff at 22-under-par.

In the playoff, Schaper sealed the win with a dramatic chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour title following his win at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, both coming via playoffs.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after his win, Schaper was visibly emotional: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t even know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year and so is the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place after a steady week. His final round of 71 included four birdies and three bogeys, leaving him just short of the playoff.

Mixed results for German players in Mauritius

Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had tracked closely on the leaderboard throughout the week, both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who started solidly with just one bogey on the front nine, faltered on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 to drop to T37 at -4.

Siem also had a tough day, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, resulting in a 76 and the same T37 finish. Nick Bachem, the only other German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round to finish T48 at -1 overall.
