Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling finish to win the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, securing victory with a dramatic chip-in eagle during a playoff against American Ryan Gerard. The tournament, held at La Réserve Golf Links, marked the final DP World Tour event of the year.
Schaper, who also won the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week, opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine. He maintained his momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, carding an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring six birdies, to force a playoff after both players finished at 22-under-par.
In the playoff, Schaper sealed the win in spectacular fashion by holing out for eagle on the second extra hole, while Gerard could only manage par. It was Schaper’s second consecutive win on the DP World Tour, both coming in playoffs.
Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper said, ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so will the new year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished third after a final-round 71 that included four birdies and three bogeys, capping off a consistent week near the top of the leaderboard.
Mixed results for German players on final day
German golfers Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had tracked closely throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider started solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough round, carding a 76 with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, also ending at T37.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round to finish T48 at -1 overall.
