Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in dramatic playoff

Jayden Schaper claims his second straight DP World Tour victory with a chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling finish to secure his second consecutive DP World Tour title at the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. The South African triumphed in a playoff for the second week in a row, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second extra hole at La Réserve Golf Links.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card a final-round 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front and two more on the back nine.

Both players finished the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second playoff hole, Schaper sealed the win with a dramatic chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The 24-year-old celebrates back-to-back victories to close out the 2025 DP World Tour season.

Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Following his win, Schaper expressed his joy: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It was such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year and so will the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a steady week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71 and a solo third finish.

Mixed results for German players

German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been close on the leaderboard throughout the tournament, struggled on the final day. Schneider started solidly with just one bogey on the front nine but faltered on the back with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough round, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, carding a 76 to also finish T37 at -4.

Nick Bachem, the only other German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and finished T48 at -1 overall.
