Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African golfer Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling performance to win the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour. Held at La Réserve Golf Links on the island of Mauritius, Schaper triumphed in a playoff for the second consecutive week, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard with a spectacular chip-in eagle on the second extra hole.
Schaper started the final round strong with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free round that included six birdies, finishing with a 66 (-6). Both players ended the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff.
In the playoff, Schaper sealed the win in style by holing out for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second straight win on the DP World Tour, following his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship the previous week.
Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have wished for anything better’
Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have wished for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the new year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a steady performance throughout the week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71.
Mixed results for German players
German golfers Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, struggled on the final day. Schneider began solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par. Siem also had a tough day, with three birdies offset by three double bogeys and two bogeys, ending with a 76 and sharing 37th place.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and finished T48 at one-under-par overall.
