Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South Africa’s Jayden Schaper delivered another spectacular performance to win the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open at La Réserve Golf Links. Just a week after his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship, Schaper once again prevailed in a playoff—this time with a stunning chip-in eagle on the second extra hole to defeat American Ryan Gerard.
Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to finish with an impressive 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on throughout the final round, carding a bogey-free 66 (-6) with six birdies, resulting in both players finishing at 22-under-par.
The playoff was decided in dramatic fashion when Schaper holed out from off the green for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. With this, Schaper secured his second consecutive DP World Tour victory—both in playoffs—and closed out the 2025 season in style.
Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper said, ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the new year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place after a final-round 71 that included four birdies and three bogeys. Jarvis had been in contention throughout the week but couldn’t match the leaders on Sunday.
Mixed results for German players
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who had been steady early on, faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at four-under-par. Siem also had a tough round, carding a 76 that included three birdies, two bogeys, and three double bogeys, also finishing T37.
Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and ended the tournament at one-under, tied for 48th place.
