Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African Jayden Schaper delivered another spectacular finish to win the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour. Played at La Réserve Golf Links, Schaper triumphed in a playoff for the second consecutive week, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard with a stunning chip-in eagle on the second extra hole.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th. He maintained momentum on the back nine with four more birdies, carding an impressive 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), including four birdies on the front and two on the back nine.

Both players finished at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second playoff hole, Schaper sealed the win with a dramatic chip-in for eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second straight DP World Tour win, both secured in playoffs, capping off a memorable end to his 2025 season.

Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his recent success: “The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like that. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year, and so is the new year.”

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place. Despite a solid week, his final round included three bogeys and four birdies, resulting in a 71.

Mixed results for German players on final day

Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had tracked closely throughout the tournament, both struggled in the final round. Schneider started steadily but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and tied for 37th at four-under-par. Siem also shot four-over-par (76) with three birdies offset by multiple bogeys and double bogeys, ending alongside Schneider.

Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par on the final day and finished tied for 48th at one-under-par overall.
