Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper clinches back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African Jayden Schaper secured his second consecutive DP World Tour victory by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in spectacular fashion. Held at La Réserve Golf Links on the island of Mauritius, Schaper edged out American Ryan Gerard in a playoff, just a week after his triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Schaper opened his final round with two birdies and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card a stellar 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front nine and two on the back.

Both players finished the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a sensational chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second straight playoff victory and a perfect end to his 2025 season.

Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year and so will the new year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis finished third after a final round of 71, which included four birdies and three bogeys. He had remained in contention throughout the week but couldn’t match the leaders on Sunday.

Mixed results for German players

Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who had a steady front nine with just one bogey, faltered on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78. He dropped to T37 at four-under-par, tied with Siem.

Siem also had a difficult round, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, resulting in a 76 (+4). Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot even par on Sunday and finished T48 at one-under-par.
