Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in playoff thriller

Jayden Schaper clinches back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African Jayden Schaper secured his second consecutive DP World Tour victory in stunning fashion at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open. Held at La Réserve Golf Links, the final event of the 2025 DP World Tour season saw Schaper edge out American Ryan Gerard in a playoff, repeating his triumph from the previous week at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.

Schaper delivered a flawless performance on the final day, carding an impressive 64 (-8) with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, followed by four more birdies on the back nine. Gerard kept the pressure high with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front and two on the back.

Both players finished at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a spectacular chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second consecutive playoff victory and capped off a remarkable end to his 2025 season.

Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after the win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. Such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the New Year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis claimed solo third after a steady week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys for a 71, securing his place among the tournament’s top performers.

Mixed results for German players

Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been tracking closely throughout the tournament, both struggled on the final day. Schneider started solidly but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also had a tough round, carding a 76 with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, also finishing T37.

Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot an even-par round on Sunday to finish T48 at -1 overall.
