Jayden Schaper claims the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open title with another playoff victory and a stunning chip-in eagle.
Jayden Schaper capped off an incredible fortnight on the DP World Tour by winning the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in dramatic fashion. The South African triumphed in a playoff for the second consecutive week, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard at La Réserve Golf Links in the final DP World Tour event of 2025.
Schaper started strong with two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, then added four more birdies on the back to post a superb 64 (-8) in the final round. Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front nine and two more on the back.
Both players finished the tournament at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a spectacular chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second straight victory on tour, both decided in playoffs.
Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Following his win, Schaper expressed his emotions: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas is going to be great this year and so is the new year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third after a final-round 71 that included four birdies and three bogeys. He had been in contention throughout the week but couldn’t keep pace on Sunday.
Mixed results for German players on final day
Germany’s Marcel Schneider and Marcel Siem, who had moved in tandem up the leaderboard earlier in the week, both struggled in the final round. Schneider carded a 78 (+6) after a tough back nine featuring three bogeys and a double bogey, dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also posted a disappointing 76 (+4), matching Schneider’s total.
Nick Bachem was the only other German to make the cut. He shot even par on Sunday to finish T48 at -1 overall.
