Jayden Schaper wins AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in dramatic playoff

Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a stunning chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.

South African Jayden Schaper delivered another thrilling finish to secure victory at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the final DP World Tour event of the year. Played at La Réserve Golf Links, Schaper repeated his triumph from the previous week’s Alfred Dunhill Championship, once again prevailing in a playoff—this time against American Ryan Gerard.

Schaper started strong with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card a bogey-free 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on with a 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front and two more on the back, also without a bogey.

Both players finished at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a spectacular chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour win—both achieved in playoffs.

Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’

Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his remarkable run: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. Such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be very good this year and so will the New Year.’

Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured third place after a steady week. His final round included four birdies and three bogeys, resulting in a 71.

Mixed results for German players on final day

German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had tracked closely on the leaderboard throughout the week, struggled in the final round. Schneider had a solid front nine with just one bogey, but faltered on the back nine with three more bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78. He dropped to T37 at four-under-par, alongside Siem.

Siem also had a tough day, with three birdies offset by two bogeys and three double bogeys, ending with a 76 (+4). Nick Bachem, the third German to make the cut, shot an even-par round to finish T48 at one-under-par overall.
