Jayden Schaper claims back-to-back DP World Tour titles with a dramatic chip-in eagle to win the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African Jayden Schaper continued his impressive form by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in spectacular fashion. The 24-year-old triumphed in a playoff for the second consecutive week, this time edging out American Ryan Gerard at La Réserve Golf Links, the final event of the DP World Tour season.
Schaper got off to a hot start with two birdies on the front nine and an eagle on the 5th hole. He maintained his momentum on the back nine, adding four more birdies to card a superb 64 (-8). Gerard kept the pressure on throughout the round, going bogey-free with six birdies for a 66 (-6), bringing both players to 22-under-par after 72 holes.
The playoff was decided on the second extra hole, where Schaper sealed the win with a stunning chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. It marked Schaper’s second straight victory on the DP World Tour, both coming via playoffs.
Jayden Schaper: ‘I couldn’t have asked for anything better’
Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his incredible run: ‘The last three weeks have been unbelievable. I don’t even know what to say. To finish a tournament like this is just crazy. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for anything better. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the new year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place after a final-round 71. Despite three bogeys, he managed four birdies to stay in contention throughout the week.
Mixed results for German players in Mauritius
German duo Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider, who had been closely matched throughout the tournament, struggled on the final day. Schneider, from the Ludwigsburg region, started steadily but faltered on the back nine with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4.
Siem also had a tough round, with three birdies offset by three double bogeys and two bogeys, ending with a 76 to join Schneider at T37. Nick Bachem, the only other German to make the cut, shot even par on Sunday to finish T48 at -1 overall.
