Jayden Schaper secures back-to-back DP World Tour victories with a dramatic chip-in eagle at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open.
South African Jayden Schaper capped off an incredible fortnight by winning the 2025 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in spectacular fashion. Held at La Réserve Golf Links, the final DP World Tour event of the year ended with Schaper defeating American Ryan Gerard in a playoff—just one week after his playoff triumph at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Schaper delivered a flawless final round, carding a sizzling 64 (-8) with two birdies on the front nine, an eagle on the 5th, and four more birdies on the back. Gerard kept the pressure on with a bogey-free 66 (-6), featuring four birdies on the front and two more on the back nine.
Both players finished regulation play at 22-under-par, forcing a playoff. On the second extra hole, Schaper sealed the win with a sensational chip-in eagle, while Gerard could only manage par. The victory marks Schaper’s second consecutive DP World Tour title—both won in playoffs.
Schaper on his win: ‘I couldn’t have asked for more’
Speaking after his win, an emotional Schaper reflected on his remarkable run: ‘The last three weeks have been incredible. I don’t even know what to say. It’s just crazy to finish a tournament like this. It’s been such a great week, such a great place, the support, the golf course—from start to finish. I couldn’t have asked for more. Christmas will be great this year, and so will the New Year.’
Fellow South African Casey Jarvis secured solo third place. Despite a final-round 71 that included three bogeys and four birdies, Jarvis remained a consistent presence near the top of the leaderboard throughout the week.
Mixed results for German players in Mauritius
Germany’s Marcel Siem and Marcel Schneider both struggled on the final day. Schneider, who had a solid start with just one bogey on the front nine, faltered on the back with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 12th, finishing with a 78 and dropping to T37 at -4. Siem also posted a 76 (+4), matching Schneider’s total after a round that included three birdies, two bogeys, and three double bogeys.
Nick Bachem, the only other German to make the cut, shot even par in the final round and finished T48 at -1 overall.
